The beginning of the 2019 growing season was blessed with generous rainfall and again in late spring, benefiting the vines. Summer remained mild with the occasional heat spike speeding veraison through. Thanks to the extremely cold Pacific Ocean, cold air filled the valley each night, lowering the temperature by as much as 40 degrees, and leaving the valley full of cooling fog every morning setting the stage for vibrant and exceptional fruit with bright acidity and ample texture. The 2019 growing season was blissfully unremarkable with a long, cool finish resulting in firm structure wrapped in juicy, complex fruit adding up to very expressive wines. The 2019 vintage is plush, textural wines packed with flavor.

Full of symphonic waves of fruit and spice complexity, the 2019 Reserve is fit for the most special of occasions. The wine shows off an impenetrable purple-black hue in the glass. Aromas swell in concert, suggesting dynamic notes of blackberry-compote, cassis, quince, and violet. The sleek palate is layered with decadent notes of baking chocolate, spice-dusted bramble fruit, loam and a lengthy, pleasing finish. With a structured set of fine tannins and balanced acidity, this wine will age very well in the cellar for some time, but is also drinking exceptionally well today, a veritable celebration of riches.
